About the Bull Arm Fabrication Site

Our strategy is to maximize utilization of the Bull Arm Fabrication Site through new opportunities.

The Bull Arm Fabrication Site is a premier fabrication facility in Atlantic Canada. The Site is owned by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and operated by the Crown corporation, Bull Arm Fabrication Inc. (BAF).

BAF leases all or portions of the Site to industrial tenants while managing core Site operations (water and sewer, security, snow clearing, etc.) on our tenant’s behalf. This strategic approach enables local participation in the industrial, marine, and energy sectors by providing both global and local companies competitively-priced, as-needed access to large-scale waterside assets. This makes the BAF Site a critical asset for the execution of large-scale industrial work. In addition, Site utilization provides opportunities for employment and economic activity for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Site is located 150km west of the province’s capital city, St. John’s. With a direct connection to the Trans-Canada Highway, the BAF Site is about a 1.5-hour drive from the St. John’s International Airport.

There are virtually no limits to what you can achieve at the BAF Site.

The BAF Site features comprehensive and fully integrated infrastructure to support simultaneous construction, maintenance, inspection, fabrication, load-out, assembly, manufacturing, and supply servicing activities. With over 500m of deepwater berthage, the Site also has the capacity and flexibility to accommodate multiple vessels and offshore installations. Major projects can be performed from start to finish at this single location and when ready, have direct unobstructed deep-water access for worldwide transport.

The BAF Site has played a significant role in developing the province’s oil and gas industry, including construction and/or fabrication of major portions of the Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose, and Hebron offshore projects.

Spanning over 25km2 with more than 260,000m2 of developed industrial space, the BAF Site has three key project areas: Marine Facility, Fabrication Yard, Deepwater Site, as well as Ancillary Facilities.

Global Connectivity

Located in Canada’s most easterly province, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Site’s prime geographic location is in close proximity to international shipping lanes and oil and gas developments in the North Atlantic. There is unobstructed, deepwater access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Site is closer to Europe than any comparable facility in North America.

The Site is also an International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS) approved International Port.
