OilCo manages a 5% participating interest in the White Rose Extension project.

Our working interest in the White Rose Extension project was acquired in 2009. The White Rose Extension project involves the development of three satellite fields: the North Amethyst Field, South White Rose and West White Rose Extension.

Discovered in 1984, the White Rose offshore oil field is located in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin. The field consists of both oil and gas pools, covering approximately 40 km2 and containing in excess of 300 million barrels of recoverable oil.

North Amethyst, the first satellite field development at the White Rose project, produced first oil in 2010; less than four years after discovery. It is also the first subsea tieback project in Canada.

South White Rose Extension began producing in June 2015.

Construction started on West White Rose Extension in late 2017. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in spring 2020 project operator Cernovus suspended construction on the project. At that time, construction of the project was nearly 60% complete. In May 2022, Cenovus and its partners announced the restart of the project. The project is expected to restart in 2023 with first oil anticipated in the first half of 2026.
